You Are Not Asking Over Value- You Are in the Wrong Place

Over the past few days, I have heard the same exact quote. In simple terms, the quote states that you are valuable. You are worth it. It’s not that you cost too much; you are in the wrong place. The saying was geared toward self-value and how we perceive what we deserve in a relationship, but I will place the same standard on your business. When I lost my most recent client, I was asked by an outsider if it was because my prices were too high and if I would consider lowering them. The answer to that question is HELL NO. After hearing this quote, what seems to be at the perfect time, I confirmed it’s not my prices that’s the problem, its the fact that I am not marketing to the right audience. I know this for sure, as I do have clients that hear my price and without blinking an eye add me to their team.

My prices are directly related to my expertise, training, background, and the amount of money I put into systems and services monthly to provide my clients with the most efficient, high-quality work to optimize their business. You are paying for quality, for expertise, and for results. It may feel as though my services are a luxury when in actuality they are a necessity. Running a successful business takes investment. Physical, mental, and financial investment. It’s not a question of whether or not I am worth it; it’s a question of whether you can afford it and value my work? If not, that’s okay and I know that those who see my value and can also sustain the cost are out there and willing to put in the full value. I know that even if you cannot afford my prices, and can still see my worth, that you respect it and always keep me in mind for when you can add me as a partner. That is something I can be remembered by. How you see yourself matters. How you value your business matters. Do not allow someone to disrupt how you perceive your worth. You are worth every penny, those who appreciate your value will never ask you to lower yourself to fit their needs. You are their needs.

When pricing yourself, you should price fair. Research others in your field’s rates, understand how they got that number, and market yourself accordingly. That said, it’s not like I pulled my price out of nowhere. It’s not a skewed graph; I am not the outlier, but within my means. I may not be at the lowest rate, but that is because I am considered an expert. I have experience, knowledge, and signature services that only I can provide. I am unique in my Niche as I stand out compared to the rest.

That’s why it’s called growing pains…

On top of that, I pay out of pocket for services and systems that allow me to bring easily accessible and quick-to-learn tools for my clients. For example, I use a system called Honeybook, which I pay a premium service to obtain all of its benefits. These benefits enhance things like invoices, contracts, and proposals and are easier to access/ use for both my clients and me. I am not spewing this information on you to prove my worth; I am giving you an understanding of what goes into maintaining and running a successful business. That is the whole point of my posts. They are here to spread knowledge and help those curious about what I do. I am here to answer your spoken & unspoken questions. To give you perspective, and to show that being a business owner is not all glitz and glam. That way you can feel comfort in knowing you can do it too, as well as to assure that we all have our learning curves. Mistakes are meant to teach us. Growth does not come through comfort, but through the discomfort. That is why they call it growing pains, not growing comfort.

Making a name for yourself is not easy. Marketing is not always going to lead to immediate results. The profit comes with growth. You have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone and do the things you are scared of doing. You have to improvise, adapt, and reflect. Acknowledge the sacrifices you will endure. Understand the process is not linear for everyone. Above all, know that you are worth it. You require what you give. Do not undersell yourself to fit someone else’s offer. Honestly, the ones that want you to do more for less are the ones who end up being the type to burn you out. If you are not being accommodated, you are not being valued, and you need to release yourself from that obligation. Never settle when it comes to any relationship, business or personal. In the end, you are the prize and deserve to be treated as such. The first step to achieving financial and emotional abundance is by starting at the source; you.

How do you find where you are valued? Look inward to see where you can do better. Look within yourself to find worth. Be an example of what you want, and those who see your value will come to you. You have to be open and willing to accept their offer. That means putting yourself out there and never stopping looking for ways to do better.

Are you ready to accept what you deserve?
