I have to be honest with you. Anyone who preaches about getting “thousands of followers by doing this” or markets themselves as a “get rich quick marketing genius” is just code for fraud. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are no such things as marketing hacks. If I am being brutally honest, I think you are too caught up in going viral and lost in the numbers, which is why you’re failing at growing an authentic and genuine community. You see other therapists reaching thousands of people, and having hundreds of likes on their posts, and you equate that to selling out a course or being the best. Truthfully, its better to have a hundred followers who are loyal and devoted to your work than thousands of followers who are only interested in “freebies” and tips, tricks, & hacks attract the wrong audience. An audience who will not put in the work or money to achieve the results you offer as a mental health and wellness professional.

Marketing isn’t just about knowing all the latest growth hacks or getting lost in complex strategies… it’s way more profound than that.

Have you ever felt like you’re just trying to keep up with the latest growth hack, only to end up more confused? Been there, done that. (I’m allll about strategy). But here’s the scoop: growing your practice’s following isn’t a race. It’s about making genuine emotional connections, even on Instagram.

Ditch the rush and focus on what you do best: connecting, understanding, and healing.

As someone in the mental health field, you know a lot about the power of psychology. Buyer’s psychology is accurate, and it’s precisely how you’ll get in front of your ideal clients. You are using your background in psychology to understand your audience’s emotions, and the way you are marketing your private practice right now is playing with them.

The best way to gain clients from your social media following is to know what they want and how YOU can specifically help them. What’s the best way to know what your audience wants? ASK THEM! Yes, it is that simple. It’s actually the most simple part of any marketing strategy. You can take to Instagram Stories with polls, TikTok Lives, see what content is doing well, or literally just ASK your ideal clients what they need help with. It’s a great way to build rapport and connection as you are directly talking to them, getting their interests, and this (as psychology shows) builds trust. When you can reach one person with your insight, you are able to reach endless more.

Odds are, if one person in your audience is struggling with a specific issue, there are countless more in your following count who are too. Do your market research, compile your responses, and use the specifics to create content. This content will put you in front of the right people- those who feel you are directly talking to them.

Key tip: Look for mannerisms in your marketing research responses. If you see a common phrase or word being used, add it to your content. Speak to your audience in a language they’ll understand- their own!

As always- thank you for being a part of my journey. I hope to be a part of yours! ❤
