You know your social media strategy is non-existent, and you could use some serious assistance with your marketing. How do you know who is the right fit for your wellness and therapy practice? Choosing a suitable social media and marketing strategist is as essential as having a strategy! So, you must do your research when it comes to finding the right fit for your business.

We will cover what to look for, the good, the bad, and the RUN when hiring marketing help.

First things first: before searching for help, you must know who you are and what you want to represent. How can you get help with marketing if you don’t know who you are? Sure, you know your occupation and that you work with clients in therapy. But do you know who you are- in and out of your business?

Can you tell me who you serve, what your niche is, and who your ideal client is? What about your goals? Can you see your private practice 5 years from now? Will you be doing the same thing? Maybe you’ll be offering a wellness retreat, or starting a podcast… the possibilities are endless! So, why is this important? When potential clients come to me, these are the first questions I ask. I want to know you are ready for this transition, because if you don’t know who you are, how will I?

“When the answer isn’t right in front of you, you may not think of how it affects your marketing or business.

These topics are also things people overlook, which is why they are having a hard time with strategy. They won’t know what content topics to discuss or how to reach their target audience because they don’t know who or what those things are. You may think, “That’s simple enough; how can anyone not know this?” when the answer isn’t right in front of you, you may not think of how it’s affecting your marketing or business. Believe it or not, I have had a client come to me not knowing any of this, and we had to end our time together because they had no idea who they were. I couldn’t help them as this caused a lot of miscommunication, and we couldn’t align. That’s a story on its own.

As you know, my mission is to help you align your message with your brand. Until you know your message, you may not be ready to work with a marketing strategist. You have to do some soul-searching in the process. Marketing isn’t just about branding and talking about your services; it’s about knowing how you stand out in a saturated market. It’s knowing WHY you are here. Once you can easily communicate this, you are on the right track.

That’s not to say you can’t work with a marketing consultant. Finding your brand is a big part of the first month of working together, but it may not be the right fit if you’re not ready to put in that effort to understand your audience and yourself.

Now that you are aligned with your brand- it’s time for the fun part! Align your message with your brand. Here’s how 👇🏻

If you are ready to stand out in the wellness space and make a name for your business that is unique and authentic to you, you have to know your mission and voice. If you want the CEO lifestyle, a social media and marketing strategist is for you!

Know precisely what you need help with

What are you looking to enhance? What are your weak points in marketing; branding, reaching your target audience, or lead generation? Search for a marketing strategist using keywords; you can find an expert anywhere—on the Internet, social media, or platforms like Indeed. Look for experts that specialize specifically in what you need help with. For me, I specialize in reaching target audiences through social media, specifically- Instagram. I help my clients get in front of the right people. I want to ensure you are connected to your ideal clients, can speak to their pain points, and are seen as the only one that can help them with their goals.

Once you know what you need help with and where your ideal marketing strategist is marketing- it’s time to narrow them all down. You want to look for someone who provides the most value, speaks to your needs, and shows the proof! One of the biggest red flags I see in other strategist’s profiles is a lack of social proof and content that doesn’t align with their work. If their page is a copy and paste version of every other marketing strategist you’ve seen- they probably aren’t the right one for you. How do you know what exactly to look out for? Is their page all tips, tricks, and hacks? Is their branding non-existent or messy? Do they lack confidence in their videos? Only have stock photos or videos with little to no context in their captions? Are they only posting tacky inspirational quotes? Odds are, they have no strategy in place and how can you work with someone that doesn’t provide you with value? You want to see that they are consistent in their posting, they should be showing up just about everyday with value-packed content!

If you are not learning from their content, aren’t inspired by their work, or don’t feel ready to buy just by binging (yes, their content should be binge-worthy) their content, they may not be suitable for you. If you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to them because they appear cold and unapproachable on their page, they’re probably not for you.

Sometimes, knowing what’s right for you is a gut feeling. They are not the ones if you talk to multiple experts about their work and don’t feel comfortable, connected, or aligned with them.

Don’t be afraid to explore your options. Get on the discovery calls, ask the questions, and take notes. This isn’t an easy decision. You should feel heard and seen when you talk to someone. You should feel them putting themselves in your shoes. Someone who can paint you a picture and you can visually see your future get brighter as they speak. I mean, not to make us out to be miracle workers, but when someone shows you who they are, and give you all the green flags- they could just be the one! Besides, this is a real investment in your business. I know as a private practice owner, you would want your potential clients to do the same research.

You are the client in this situation. Think how you would treat a consult call. Are they approaching you with the same empathy and expertise as you would a therapy client? If they check all your boxes, fit your budget, and answer all of your questions, I think it’s safe to say you can move forward!

Are you seeking a social media and marketing strategist who checks your boxes?

I am currently accepting new clients for my 1:1 Marketing Consultation Program- let’s see if we’re a good fit! DM me on Instagram or comment “Consult” below to schedule your free Discovery Call!

As always, thank you for being a part of my journey- I can’t wait to be a part of yours. 🥰
